In the past, Nora has worked in the mental health field as a case manager, in a rehabilitation hospital, and as a field representative. Nora has learned from her classroom experiences at É«×ۺϾþà that thinking outside of the box and becoming an effective problem solver are very important skills, especially with her history in case management positions. Skills and knowledge gained in her Family Resource Management and Interpersonal Relations courses are extremely helpful to her as she assists individuals in developing goals and budgets, and interact with diverse family groups. Nora's journey is one of applying the knowledge gained through her education in very practical ways.
As a Human Relations Representative for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Nora conducts intake assessments in English and Spanish with individuals who want to file a discrimination complaint in housing, employment, education, and public accommodations related to the individual's age, sex, race, national origin, ancestry, disability, religion and/or retaliation. Further, Nora investigates complaints of discrimination through interviews, fact finding conferences, and documentation reviews. She assists the legal department in preparing cases for public hearings and helps negotiate settlements between disputing parties.
