Matthew Carraheris Director of Bands at Central Dauphin High School.He conducts the Central Dauphin High School Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Freshmen Band, Percussion Ensembles, and the Central Dauphin Marching Band. He also teaches courses in Guitar and Music Technology. Prior to his arrival at Central Dauphin High School, Mr. Carraher taught at Central Dauphin East Middle School, as well as several other successful Marching Band programs in the Greater Harrisburg region.
Mr. Carraher received a Bachelor of ScienceDegree in Music Education from É«×ۺϾþà College (magna cum laude) with concentrations in Percussion and Conducting. He also received a Masters of Music Degree in Wind Conducting from É«×ۺϾþà College, and has done graduate work at both Temple University andthe University of New Mexico. While studying in New Mexico he held a graduate assistantship in percussion, teaching undergraduate Applied Lessons, Percussion Pedagogy, Percussion Ensemble, and the University of New Mexico Marching Lobos Spirit Marching Band.
Mr. Carraher is a frequent clinician, arranger and private music instructor in the south-central Pennsylvania area. He was a part of the 2009 International Brass Ring award winning show, “Cocoa Rhythm Factory”, and the award winning show “Trash Time”. He has performed at PASIC in the 2009 Marching Marimba Competition, and as a soloist with the É«×ۺϾþà College Symphony Orchestra, É«×ۺϾþà College Wind Ensemble, and University of New Mexico Symphony Orchestra. He is currently the Vice President of Dauphin County Music Educators Association, and is a member of Pennsylvania Music Educators Association, National Association for Music Education, Percussive Arts Society, and the Vic Firth Education Team.
