“Our main goal is to ensure that children are growing up in a safe and nurturing environment so they can learn and be prepared for Kindergarten.”
Veronica’s Career Journey
She has a degree in HDFS with a minor in Pre-Counseling and Therapy. She is currently working as a Family Educator while working towards her master’s degree.
Working as a Family Educator
“As a family educator and home visitor, I conduct home visits with parents and their children prenatally to 6 years old utilizing the Parents as Teachers curriculum. Through focusing on child development, development-centered parenting, and family well-being, I encourage parents to embrace their role as a parent through activities and information regarding child development. I help connect families with relevant resources in the community and encourage parents towards their personal and familial goals. We host monthly events for our families and encourage connections with other families in the community. We believe that parents are their children’s first and most influential teachers and we walk alongside of them through the journey of parenting.”
How has HDFS prepared you?
HDFS definitely prepared her for her job. She mentioned at the panel that the Child Development classes were particularly helpful and she learned a lot in her 4 years.
